'Visions of Summerland (Live at Arminius Church Rotterdam)' is much more than just another live album. DOOL recorded these songs on the darkest of nights during the winter solstice on December 23, 2022. It was not only physically the darkest time of the year, but also spiritually a dark hour for the Dutch dark rock shooting stars. Due to the global pandemic, they could hardly go on Tour with their current second album, 'Summerland.' Furthermore, it was their last concert together with their friend and drummer Micha Haring, who had previously announced his departure from DOOL in private for personal reasons. The signs in the Arminius Church in Rotterdam pointed to a highly melancholic performance. Surrounded by sacred architecture and religious imagery, in front of family, friends, and their most loyal fans, DOOL sacrificed all their heart, sweat, and tears for the songs. Pure stage magic was in the air. Desperation and pain transformed into musical beauty and hope. Frontperson Raven even later spoke of the best DOOL performance of all time! Since their resurrection in the old Dutch port city of Rotterdam in 2015 from the ashes of THE DEVIL'S BLOOD and ELLE BANDITA, DOOL have made their unique mark on the European dark rock scene. The debut album, 'Here Now, There Then,' was released in 2017 and immediately won awards such as 'Album of the Month' in the prestigious German magazines Rock Hard and Metal Hammer, where DOOL also won the title of 'Best Debut Album 2017' - alongside much praise from around the world, including VICE (US), Aardschok (NL), and De Volkskrant (NL). With their second album, 'Summerland,' which saw the light of day in April 2020, the shooting stars led by Raven van Dorst (vocals, guitar) confirmed their lightning-fast start and received further praise from the media. 'Summerland' received multiple 'Album of the Month' awards, including in the German magazines Rock Hard (10/10) and Sonic Seducer, as well as a second place in the Soundcheck of Metal Hammer (DE), Metal.de, and another top position in Polish Metal Hammer.
